Uniting Spirit & Art
Alzheimer's/Improvisation Caregiver Education
The Healing Moments Mission
Our mission is to improve the quality of life for persons with Alzheimer's and dementia, reduce caregiver stress, and inspire a hopeful attitude. Our intent is to help caregivers and communities develop a deeper understanding of these diseases, and nurture the belief that meaningful relationships remain possible throughout all the stages of dementia.
Using experiential methods based on improvisational theatre exercises and spiritual practices, Healing Moments™ programs TEACH caregivers how to communicate effectively and connect deeply with persons with Alzheimer's and dementia; how to identify and accept the limitations and gifts of Alzheimer's and dementia; and how to reduce conflict, increase cooperation, and provide quality, therapeutic care.
After attending Healing Moments workshops, participants feel empowered to be
compassionate, competent, and confident caregivers.
"Healing Moments™ programs are powered by passion, and a great understanding of Alzheimer's disease and the journey caregivers travel to cope with the disease. Caregivers who are able to participate in 'Meeting Alzheimer's: Learning to Communicate and Connect,' will have the chance to gain a better understanding of the disease, how to best connect with the person affected, and how to live with it successfully." ~ Lindsay Brennan, LSW, CMC, Executive Director, LifeCare Directions of New England
